Norths Devils: Logo in Detail

Norths Devils: Logo in Detail

3 Dec 2025

Firstly please take a look this prototype website which I have taken the liberty to create to showcase the new logo/ how it would be applied to a branding project. I have built this from the ground up, mimicking the NRL team websites, meaning if changes are wanted, I have full control over all content and design. I'm unsure whether a new site is a direction you would like to take, but we would be open to exploring opportunities. Feel free to explore the site. The site features working navigation, footer, menus and interactivity, and is fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. I have taken the time to transfer over some content, including players, teams and several news articles. There is considerably more to develop, mainly migrating existing information from the current site, which is something I can undertake if you would like.

If you browse through the news section on this site, I have already prepared a mock article unveiling the logo. This article here is a more detailed look into the logo and has some variations to look at as well as points to discuss during this development phase. That said, personally I am quite happy with how the logo is looking.

The logo

I have taken your feedback on board and have also been inspired by the recent Brisbane Broncos redesign. This has led me to adopt a slightly more minimalist approach to the typography. I am retaining the same shape of the head, as I am confident this provides a strong foundation. However, I do concede that it may be a little thin and detailed. With that in mind, I have thickened the edges and tweaked some of the shape around the ear and nose for better cohesion. Old vs New below.

I have also refined the eye and have prepared several options for the mouth below.

The Brisbane Broncos typography features a distinctive detail on the 'B' of Brisbane. This has inspired me to add a similar element to ours. Our logo is angular, at 45 and 25 degrees from bottom to top, conveying aggression and forward momentum. I have taken the 25-degree angle and applied it as a crop into 'NORTHS'.

I have also softened the logomark (the head) by rounding all of the corners. This is subtle but gives it a more approachable feel, whilst detracting from an overly polished modern aesthetic and lending it a hint of vintage character. I have applied the same treatment to the logotype.

Like before, the logo has variations. The thicker composition allows the 'inverted' logo to stand better on its own. You can see below, with facial detail, without, and as the silhouette.

Again, below you can see how the detail can be added when the application calls for it. As well as various colour combinations across the entire Norths colour palette.

I feel there is still refinement to be finalised regarding the highlights and exactly where/how they are placed.

Below you can see how the logomark, and logotype interact with each other.

The remit of my work may not span as far, but I thought id display these new developments in some quick context pieces below.
